MSA Initiatives for 2020-2021 Academic Year
Black Lives Matter - Supporting Anti-Racist Actions at McCourt
The McCourt Student Association is committed to pursuing specific actions that lift up Black voices and support a more equal and equitable McCourt community. This includes holding space for any McCourt students with an intentional focus on Black Lives Matter initiatives seeking changes within McCourt and its student body, listening to all feedback, engaging in internal dialogue, and promoting definitive action.
Improving Food Security for Graduate Students
According to the 2020 Food Insecurity Survey, almost 1 in 5 students at McCourt experienced food insecurity prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Given the current economic downturn and increased costs for food and other goods, this issue will continue to impact the well being of individuals in our community. MSA is committed to reducing food insecurity in the McCourt student population by promoting food resources on and near campus and drawing awareness to Hoya Hub, the food pantry resource at Georgetown.
Advocating for Increased Financial Support for Graduate Students
In conjunction with the Georgetown Graduate Student Government (GradGov), MSA has asked for a 10% tuition discount for all graduate and professional students at Georgetown University. We have also requested that McCourt commit to a date after which students will not be asked to return to campus, provided that doing so would not bring harm to the visa and/or OPT status of international students.
